The Conservative Party has won two of the five seats that were being contested in the East Midlands region of the 2014 European Elections. In what was expected to be a disaster for the Conservative Party and a whitewash for UKIP, turned out to be arelatively successful night for the East Midlands Conservative team.
Two of the five Conservative candiadtes will be heading to Brussels to fight the British corner with Emma McClarkin being returned for a 2nd time and Andrew Lewer taking on the role for the first time.
The full results for the East Midlands are as follows:
UKIP: 368,734
Conservative: 291,270
Labour Party: 279,363
Green Party: 67,066
Liberal Democrats: 60,773
An Independance From Europe: 21,384
BNP: 18,326
English Democrats: 11,612
Harmony Party: 2,194
Turnout was 32.6%
