The exhibition has a new focus on ‘Women at War on the Eastern Front’, Prisoners of War, Conscientious Objectors and A View from the Other Side.
Following the opening, Victoria was treated to a tour of the exhibition and the WW1 Trench.
Victoria said,
“I was delighted to open phase 2 of the WWI exhibition at Alford Manor House.
It was a fitting way to honour and remember those who fought and contributed to the WWI effort in Alford and beyond. The exhibition brings to life a period of time that we must never forget.
I commend Grant Allan, Chairman of the Alford and District Civic Trust, for all his hard work in leading the team.
The quality of the exhibition is a tribute to the volunteers and the wider local community who have given hours of their spare time and treasured family possessions to ensure the exhibition reflects the history of Alford.”
