The railway line was the main route linking the towns of Boston, Louth and Grimsby in Lincolnshire. Victoria took a train ride from Ludborough to North Thoresby and back with her family. She also met a number of volunteers at Ludborough Station, and had the opportunity to look in the cab of “Bellerophon”, the steam locomotive which was pulling the train. The Bellerophon was built in 1874 and was visiting the Wolds Railway that weekend as part of a tour.
Victoria said,
“I would like to thank all the volunteers who make this historic railway such an attraction to people in my constituency and further afield.
Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is an important part of our local heritage and my family really enjoyed our afternoon. I will spread the word about the LWR whenever the opportunity arises.”
